Icarus is Ireland’s oldest arts journal. Since 1950 we have been publishing poetry, prose, drama, personal essays and visual art from students, staff and alumni of Trinity College, Dublin. We publish two or three issues per academic year. This year marks the 75th Volume of the magazine.
We’ve published work by Simon Armitage, William Burroughs, Seamus Heaney, Eavan Boland, Paul Muldoon, and Louis MacNeice.
Former editors include Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, Rudi Holzapfel, Brendan Kennelly, Derek Mahon, Michael Longley, Iain Sinclair, David Norris, John Haffenden, Maurice Scully, Sebastian Barry, David Wheatley, and Selina Guinness. The current editors for Volume 76 are Gwenhwyfar Ferch Rhys and Eileen Grant.
Icarus won the Best Print Design of Ireland & Northern Ireland at the Student Publication Awards 2025, and was shortlisted for Magazine of the Year and Layout and Design of the Year at the Student Media Awards 2025.
